When the Past Comes Back to Haunt You. . . (A Emmett Cullen story.)

Reads: 103 | Chapters: 1 |

This is my first Emmett Cullen story I've ever wrote. I have had this idea for this particular story for awhile. It's been brewing in my head until I absolutely must write it now! xD It might be a little confusing at first, but just bare with me. Everything written about Emmett having worked with the railroad in his human life, liking to drink, womanize, and gamble. That is all true. I looked it up. :P Please Enjoy, Comment, and Rate. (:

Chapter 1

Parting is Such Sweet Sorrow. .

' . . And death places a feathery kiss upon thy lips, because his parting brings him such sweet sorrow. '

(Flashback) 1935-

There was a thunderous laugh that echoed through the treetops in the mountains of Gatlinburg, Tennessee. That laugh was followed by the deep, taunting voice of Emmett McCarty. "How about you show yourself, Alexandra?" he teased, peeking through the bushes and thick brush beside the small mountainous path.

"No!" A voice called from the thick brush, darting around a tree. That voice was very familiar to Emmett, it alluring and all the while cocky to him. It belonged to none the other, Alexandra Thompson. They had been great friends since Em was sixteen, and she was thirteen, nothing more than friends, nothing less. Now, Mr.McCarty was twenty, and Alexandra was seventeen. Emmett worked on Tennessee's railroads, while Alex helped her grandparents run a small bakery.

On this very day Emmett had promised, and devoted his day to Alexandra. Since getting the job with the railroad they had not been able to hangout. He vowed today would be different. All day.. He would "accompany" her up the mountain, and back down. "Alexandra! If you don't get out here I will come in that bush and get you!" Em chuckled, his voice very playful, a few dark brown pieces of hair in his blue eyes. When he smiled, even when he grimaced, cute boy-like dimples appeared, in which.. Most girls loved. And although along with his "manhood" Emmett had taken up gambling, drinking, and "womanzing", Alex was still his friend. That's all it was, but secretly. . She was desperately in love with him. It had started as a crush, then developed into something more, yet she could not share her feelings. He did not feel the same way, or so she thought.

"Okay! I'm coming! I'm coming!" Alex laughed, dashing from the bushes, onto the path, stopping in front of Emmett. "Happy?" she teased, eyes dancing with amusement. Emmett grinned, thinking, 'Yes. Yes I am.' "Not really," he joked, glancing up, and in that moment. . Froze. Looming, and lumbering towards Emmett and Alexandra was a large grizzly bear. It's height and size was incredible, and a malevolent look was in its eyes, snout wrinkled back, exposing large teeth.

"Alexandra, I do not want to alarm you, but you must move." Em murmured, looking down at the grinning Alex.

"Move? What is your-" Alex's voice caught in her throat as she turned around, spotting the same beast Emmett did, and before she could react. . It charged.

Everything happened so fast, that in a weird movement Alex was shoved behind Emmett, knocked breathless as she stumbled back. In that same motion the grizzly's large paw came down, slamming across Emmett's face, a squishing sound heard as the claws dug into his flesh.

Before Alex knew it she was screaming, the sound choked with a sob. " Emmett!" she yelled, bending down and picking up a good-sized rock. She chunked it at the bear's head, and it hit, yet fazed it not. Emmett's screams of terror and pain echoed throughout the mountain side as he stumbled back. " RUN ALEX! GET HELP!" he wailed, blood pouring from the side of his mouth, down his face and shirt.

Without thought Alexandra simply nodded, turned on her heels, and ran down the mountain-side.

Little did she know. . That was the last time she would ever see Emmett Dale McCarty.

Present Day (In story) 2009-

"Remembering won't bring him back, nor help you with forgetting." A voice spoke, bringing Alexandra from her thoughts. It was Marcel, the Head of the Coven she was in, the one who changed her, and her friend. He had the gift, or power you might say of entering one's mind. You could simply call it Mind Reading. He was invading her privacy once more. There was a rush of air, then Smack! Marcel was a few inches away, holding his shoulder in which Alex hit, cussing.

"I told you not to be crawling up in my head all the time! Invasion of privacy! Yeesh!" Alexandra complained, glarring at Marcel as another laugh was heard, and into the kitchen walked Jordan, Marcel's mate. She walked over and wrapped her arms around him. "Poor thing, you'd think you would learn the last couple of times!" she teased, hugging him tightly in which he returned, glarring over her head at Alexandra.

"Well, I came into your domain.. Which is the public kitchen I might add, to tell you that you and Sebastian start school tomorrow. You know, Forks High?" Marcel questioned, a devilish grin crossing his lips. Alex and Sebastian-or Sebby as she calls him- were the "youngest" in the Coven. Therefore, they had to go to school to keep the "human" cover. They had moved to Forks over the "weekend", the weekend before school started back. The whole family was known as the Daniel's, there was Marcel-like the father-, Jordan-like the mother figure-, Sebastian, -a single and gay brother-, Dora, like a sister and she was also single yet her "human" story is that she is twenty, out of school, and looking for a job.

That. .Was Alex's new family, ever since what happened.

"School? Tomorrow?" Alexandra repeated rather stubbornly, standing up from the wooden kitchen table, jutting her jaw a bit.

"I didn't stutter, Alex, you and Sebastian are school bound tomorrow." Marcel countered, hugging Jordan back against him, which she was just laughing lightly, shaking her head.

"Okay," Alexandra replied rather icily, going towards the stairs, towards her room. She felt as if she had been to "school" enough in her life time, but she knew it was something to do to live a normal life.. If that's what you would call it.

"Oh, and Alexandra?" Mar called, waiting until Alex turned to look at him to finish. " Welcome to Forks, Washington."

Author's Note:

So this is the First Chapter of the story. I hope it didn't confuse you terribly bad, and in the next chapter it will get better. More things will happen and so on. The question is SHOULD I continue? Don't you want to know what happened when Alex got help? When she went back? How she is where she is now? If her and Emmett will ever be friends again? Maybe he will act like he doesn't even know her?? Maybe they won't even meet. xDD I have great ideas for this story, but it is all up to you guys. . The Readers. (: :D
